Remember when video games where blocky, cheesy and expensive and you had to buy a whole system for one game? Most aren't old enough to remember but this was how it was. "Video Games" were thought of as rich children's toys that served no purpose and had no meaning but to be noisy, expensive pieces of crap.

Here’s the good part..

The title "video game" is outdated and completely irreverent to what this type of entertainment is about. Sure you watch it, and it is a game, but there is so much more to it. But the industry has grown to huge proportions that rake in billions a year. For gods sake we have an actual WAR going on with consoles today, times have never been better and the "video game" industry has grown by leaps and bounds

so in conclusion i suggest we re-name the industry, something 21st century tech savvy people can agree on. This is no longer a type of entertainment for children, everyone is boarding this unstoppable force that will never stop and continue to entertain for years to come...

so I submit to you all, share your ideas of what general or technical name should this cosmic medium adorn?

Here is a list of some of the names that could be used, but wont be...

Gamescape Gameology AlphaGame Gamesphere Gamege Psygame Imagism Gameism ImageControl Immerser Immersism Immersage Controllism Controller Immersology Playtech Playism Playcon Consoler Playpeak Futurplay Interplay

These names aren't that good, but I'm sure if Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft got a hold of this idea it could be really great because if they could change the world of gaming as we know it, it would tip the scale in their favor

Good idea, the name 'Video Game' reminds me of Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles on the NES! (Not that that's a bad thing!)

Gameology sounds good to me!

Or something based around the word console. Consoleology? Narf!

video games should now be called C-TVE: computer-television entertainment.

thanks for your input, yet this will remain a dream. Plus i think gameology may have been used before, and people will be stuck in their ways. I think it would be great to have the science of gameology, the software called games, and the hardware consoles, it just sounds good.

Artificial Imaging!

That just popped out the top of my head...I don't even think it makes sense. :gg

But it is nearly the same as Artificial Inteligence so they could put it down like this...A-IMAGE

Well, Gameology doesn't really work, because that would be the study of gaming. So, I've come up with a simple one:

<table style="filter:glow(color=red)">GPI(Game Play Industries)</table>

It works because well, it's gaming, you play games, and making games is an industry.
