Panzer Dragoon

What was so special about Panzer Dragoon for the genesis and coming out for the X-box? Was it a good game or something because I hear all these people ranting about it.

If you ever played the game Starfox 64 or Lylat Wars its kinda like that only you control where you shoot your weapon in the game. I liked it but c'mon there are other games that can be easily better.
