Before I go in to it I just want to say that I am not here to bash XBOX that said...

Why did Microsoft lie about the snow border pick? They didn’t admit to altering it until some one figured it out.

And if it was concept art then why was it with all the unaltered picks? And why didn’t they say it was concept art to begin with?

o_o; They didn't lie. It was all an accident.

One edited screenshot-- ONE... It was a simple mistake. The only thing they added was lens flare... No biggie, man.

yup, they lied to get you gullible fools, ah, fooled

so awful

look at what SONY did with that Animal movie that is out. They used fake movie reviewers on thier posters.

Now SONY is getting sued big time for false advertising.

Obviously every business is prone to messing up.

Besides, MS has released in game pics of the SnowBoarding game that have already surpassed the quailty of those shots.

Look at sony and FF again. Every FF commercial is always CG, ALWAYS, never in game.

GO Figure.

Look at the big picture and not focus all your hate on one company, when all companies lie or mess up.

Ahh yes Amped, well Microsoft thought lieing to the general console population is an accepted practice (one they practice well in the PC software industry;)). So they went an Photoshoped Amped, then showed off to the public with the realtime, interactive demeanor, misleading many. Simply put Microsoft wants your money, so lieing is just one of the techniques from they're big bag of tricks to do so.:rollyes:

Every video game company lies. But The fact that Microsoft showed pictures that had a fake shadow and lighting from another picture is just pathetic

Getting pretty desperate?? Comparing fake reviews to altering video games is like comparing apples to oranges, is that the best you could come up with??

BigSky

oh, please

if those Amped pics are so alarming then don't get XBox

so what's the point of bring up a topic like this, again

I saw the fakes, I know they were fakes, they corrected it and I am still gonna get the XBox.

I recall sony saying something about Toy Story graphics for the ps2. Now that's a downright lie.

get over it

You guys are making a mountain out of an anthill. It was a mistake... ONE edited screenshot was accidently released. All that was added was lens flare. Stop whining.

BigSky learn to stay on topic. We're talking about the console industry here not the movies.

Also Temjin show me some proff it was only one shot, from the article on Gamers.com (who blew the scheme) it didn't say anything about that.

And BigSky I'm anti-Microsoft for reasons. Most are pretty obvious. Now lets not forget your anti-anything against Xbox.

Lets not forget mis-leading the public is not only bad, it down right Microsoft style.:p

Things like the screenshot happen! However the stats sheets M$ were handing out were toatally wrong!

That was the only screenshot that Microsoft took down when everybody found out it was doctored. And some people at psx2central.com's forums said that that was the only screenshot they put up that was doctored.... And a lot of the people replying to that topic didn't like the Xbox at all. Oo;

Neh?.... You mean the specifications? Polygon performance and all that techno jabble?... Not necessarily. On their first spec sheet, I believed it said 300.... Not 300 polygons, but something else. I'll have to check up on that... But anyways, that mislead a lot of people into believing the Xbox could dish out 300 million polygons per second in real world conditions.

On the next spec sheet they actually put something up a lot closer to real world performance. 125mpps. And this actually is achievable... Only with 1 light and 1 texture layer. :p

LOL I remember when IGN went through it with their magic marker! Some of the stats were actually impossible, and it said N/A about a lot of the Gamecubes componants that had actually been finished for a while, as well as botching some of the PS2 and Cube stats to make them seem less powerful!

Another common misconception is some of the stats, because that they are not directly comparable, M$ uses computer terms, whilst PS2 and NGC use console terms. etc

X-Box 700MHZ (and something MHZ)
NGC 485MHZ
PS2 300MHZ

Now who thinks that the NGC's 485MHZ RISC cpu is directly comparable to the X-box's Pentium 3 chip?

'Another common misconception is some of the stats, because that they are not directly comparable, M$ uses computer terms, whilst PS2 and NGC use console terms. etc'

there is no such thing as 'console terms'.
the ibm uses a different architecture that you can not compare with the p3 there is along reasoning but just accept the fact that the p3 and ibm are on the same level and are very similar in proformance

well, if Microsoft released that edited image accidentally.....well....thats a huge mistake.

Now, the XBox seems more like a PC that only plays games (and DVD?) and PS2 and Gamecube seem more like a console.

I think the speed doesnt matter... If i a game runs smoothly and without crashes it will be great, even if it is on the NES.

Nintendo showed (at E3) that their console works, and works fine. On the other hand, the XBox didnt showed a great console, hmmmm well, yes, it is a very good console but when their game (Nightcaster?) crashed and then it showed a reboot screen, well it was disappointing to some persons...

Yes.... Its only a huge mistake if Microsoft makes it. MS isn't the first to do something like this. Developers have done things like this knowing the images were doctored.

... Ergh... The Xbox didn't crash at E3. There were some problems with the Audio/Video guys at the start of E3. But it didn't crash.

Also, even if the Xbox crashed, I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. The PS2 crashed 2 times at E3 and once at Spaceworld according to approx01. And do you hear any complaints from PS2 owners saying that their PS2s are crashing on them?

Pancho Juancho

actually, i dont care about the crash... the bad thing was the reboot screen..thats all

pretendo as a forum moderator you should really stay on topic, especially when you tell me to stay on topic

???Lay off the Vodka man. You're going off topic has now made me off topic. But I guess I'll answer a question or two.

Who made me mod? Look at my sig, then look at the name of the board this forum is hosted by. Put 2 and 2 together and...

"toy story garphics" no I don't recall, I don't even know what a "garphics" is. Actually nope haven't heard any out cry about that, but if you can manage to surface some plausable article you could set yourself on track.

Also Xbox did crash at E3. I believe it was IGN but they did note a familiar boot-up screen when showcasing a game (the name of which I can't recall at the moment).

Hardware at E3 was at 50% of final. DOA3 is now running at 180fps. Microsoft had one photo, their bad. Nintendo said Dolphin would be out last year and now a year later they have GC. Mistakes happen. Typing mistakes as well and Pretendo seems to be the only one rude enough not to accept this and start pointing it out when someone make one. Games on both system will be good. It's just that the games coming to Xbox are more to my liking. I just here to inform some people who don't have their facts staight.

Not dissing anyone just stating facts.
