As many people probably think cause of my name im not actually totally against Xbox, you said your getting a Xbox first i'll be getting a GameCube first and seeing what happens with the Xbox, a lot of people will probably tell you this but E3 was the time for Xbox to shine and in my eyes it simply didnt, they could have brought A LOT more to the table but either didnt have it or chose not to for some reason, I mean were talking about the biggest gaming expo of the year and im sure a lot of people were turned off by the Xbox's showing, basically what im trying to say is the future of the Xbox is foggy, it could be the biggest flop in gaming history or the most successful console since the PSX or possibly the biggest console ever, I dont care who you are you cant tell me or anyone else that the Xbox is going to do great for sure just like I cant tell you if the GC is. I guess im just one of those guys that was first turned on to Nintendo as a small child and ive followed Nintendo since. One of my peeves about the Xbox is the looks of the thing, I think its one of the ugliest consoles ever to come around, but I dont buy a console for its looks I buy it for the games :)
On to my thoughts about the games. Project Ego looks like a awesome game with a original story line couple that with its beutiful graphics and you can tell this game is gonna be a winner, if I do decide to buy a Xbox this is gonna be one of the first games I pick up. DOA3 on the other hand looks great but if its anything like DOA2 on the DC im gonna be dissapointed with it, I rented it at Blockbuster and im glad I did, my friend and I fired up the game and it was great but after a while it started to get really boring and about 15 minutes later we were looking for something else to play, but if one thing can save this game its the replay value it got boring but we played it a lot but only for short spurts, in my opinion this is a weekend rental at best. I also have JSR for the DC and I must be one of the only ones but I really didnt like the game, so im really not interested in that.
As for the DVD player I already own a pretty good one and a lot of people I know already have one or looking to buy one, their growing in popularity but I buy a gaming console not for the DVD player but for the games, I have a PS2 and I dont think I used the DVD feature more than 2-3 but that could be because I use the one I already have quit a bit, but if you dont have a DVD player and are a gamer and dont wanna spend that much money a console/DVD player is good I guess.
As for preorders, it varies quit a bit because the GC list here is completley full and there are only like 10 ppl on the Xbox list, but I dont think sales are determined by preorders cause most stores allow you to get your money back at anytime and change your mind.

First of all. How can you know the all the games that are going to to be released at launch? Nintendo GC's launch lineup is not really known yet. There are some games that might be delayed, and there are some games that just pop up for the launch lineup. This is just a rumour but the more Nintendo work on Zelda, Mario, and other games you might want the faster the game will be finished. Its even a possibility for those games to be at launch or a couple of weeks or months later. Also the Star Fox game will still have you flying around in your ship shooting, but if you don't like that you still have that Star Wars game. The game would hav made a great online game though.
Now about Nintendo's kiddy image. Look I know you hate it so badly that it makes you want to vomit all over the N64. But don't you think that its not as bad as it was before? Look at SSB Melee. If this gams recieves a E rating, thats because of mainly the looks of the game. I thought that the original SSB should have had a T rating because it was just as violent as Flying Dragons. The reason that Nintendo created so many games that attracted kids was because they wanted games that got the family playing together. Also how can you say Nintendo creates kiddy games. Look at Banjo-Kazooie. I doubt that many kids under 10 can even beat the game faster that me. Plus I had a fricking hard time on the last two levels. Also ther are some games from Nintendo that are as nasty as Conker's BFD.
Why did you put number 3 about the system's looks if looks don't matter to how good a system is? Its only one inch higher than the Dreamcast. The system is estimated 4 inches each side. Also never judge a book by its cover.
You know Nintendo they could make something like Project Ego but similar. You said that DOA3 could not be done graphically on the GC. Do graphics matter and has it been tried on the system? The GC gets a whole new Tekken that they say is more than just a port. In fact it might be a hole new game with a whole lot better fighting engine. Also if the Nintendo wanted a powerful system to compete against X-Box they already do. They could have raised the power and speed a bit more but they only raised the cpu by 85 MHz and its still the same price. Plus they have the copper technology use which flows electricity faster than the X-Box's foil cpu.

the p3 is a pentium 3 coppermine on a 0,13 process.
the also lowered the flipper.
why did they chanced the specs? simple like ms the were going for a 2:1 cpu/gpu but it proved to be not effective and then they did a 3:1 radius which was better probably because the cpu couldnt manage to hold on to the gpu and stay effective at it.
original xbox cpu 600/gpu 300 = 2
new cpu 733/gpu 250 = 2.93
original cube cpu 405/gpu 202.2 =2.2
new cpu 485/gpu 162 = 2.99
its optimalisation

They change the specs because it limited them in some areas of gameplay.
